Our Mission is to be…
A Commissioned Community Connecting people to Jesus Christ.
At Briarcliff, we believe that every Christian is in a process. Some call this process discipleship; others refer to it as spiritual formation. We call it transformation. This process is how people grow in their faith. Our strategy at Briarcliff Baptist Church to facilitate growth and transformation is simple. It’s just three words: Connection, Community, Commission.
Connection begins with connecting to God through Christ as a person decides to trust in Jesus for personal salvation. People get connected to God through many ways here at our church. Through our worship services, small groups, within volunteer and leadership roles, and through friendships. Our goal is to have every connection point lead to worshipping the great God we serve. Connecting with God is central to everything we do.
Community is togetherness. Community is a place where one feels accepted and safe. Safe to be yourself. Safe to share your thoughts. Safe to express your feelings. Safe to ask questions. Safe to challenge the ideas of others. Safe to laugh. Safe to cry. In community, individuals discover how much they have in common. To be in community is to feel appreciated and included alongside others. The center of our community as believers is our shared commonality in a relationship with Jesus Christ, our love for one another, and our shared service.
Commission is when a community of believers connects with the world around them for Christ. Here at Briarcliff we have decided to become extremely intentional in living the Great Commission, saying “yes” to Jesus’ final command: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV). We serve God by sharing His truth with others through word and deed both locally and internationally.
